So, the day is finally here! Wednesday 12th April 2017, which means it’s our launch event tonight!!!! Cue fanfare (and nerves and excitement and all the feels!) For the first 100 ticket holders, we have a gorgeous bespoke goody bag made by Little Dot Company, so we thought we’d get to know them a bit better and show you the lovely face behind the brand.
So Little Dot Company, who are you?
Beth Campagna, an exhausted mama who founded Little Dot Company while on maternity leave with her littlest dot.
I had the business idea in the early hours of the morning while feeding my baby, so if it all goes horribly wrong I can blame the sleep deprivation having an effect on my mental state.
Little Dot was initially about designing and creating on-trend and coordinating baby shower decorations, for a market that was lacking style, as well as fun gifts for mums.
The tongue-in-cheek clothing I designed for sleep deprived mamas has been a big hit and has continued to grow. The ‘need more sleep’ sweatshirt has recently featured in the Metro online and was worn by Rebekah Vardy.
So beth, what makes you happy?
Spending quality family time with my kids when they are on great form and say and do gorgeous and funny things.
Those days make it all worthwhile don’t they. So, what makes you sad?
Spending time with my family when they are not on good form and are having tantrums and tears over EVERYTHING. I want to go to a desert island then!
I completely get that. On those days I can’t even find peace and quiet in the loo! So if you do run away to a desert Island, what’s the number one item you’d take?
An ice cold and extra large G&T.
You’re my kinda gal Beth! So, where is your dream destination?
I would love to go to the Maldives with my husband and kids. I think they would absolutely love all of the fishes, and I would love the low risk of them drowning so I could chill out a little instead of being on panic mode, and enjoy the stunning scenery.
Aaaaa, it sounds dreamy. Let’s get on to time out – Do you have something you’re reading at the moment?
The Unmumsy Mum Diary. I loved the Unmumsy Mum. Her honesty is refreshing and I can completely sympathise with her new book about being a busy working mum and trying to do it all.
What new thing have you learnt in the past week?
I went to a great Cheltenhamaman branding event recently with Steph Douglas – Don’t Buy Her Flowers. She gave some great advice which all really resonated with me.
Early riser or Night owl?
Early riser, but absolutely not by choice my kids are terrible sleepers. Night owl because that’s when I fit in most of my work and strangely feel most productive.
I think I get most of my work done in the evenings too. So, what do you have on in the background to keep you sane – is it TV or radio?
I hardly ever get to watch TV at the moment, unless it’s Peppa Pig or Horrid Henry in the background, so radio.
And your favourite treat…chocolate or chips?
Depends on the time of the month. Probably chocolate.
What parenting advice would you give to your former ‘new-parent’ self?
Put your babies to bed awake and don’t feed them to sleep. So hard to do because they always fell asleep on me, and I secretly loved it, but they may have been better sleepers if I tried harder.
After three children, I don’t think there’s any kind of magic sleep formula that works. I definitely wouldn’t have missed out on those sleepy cuddles though, so I am right there with you.
After all of the sleep deprivation, mothering and running a business…what is your parent pause?
To make sure I have a weekly coffee catch up or meal with friends so I can have a laugh and remember I’m still the same girl who loves a bit of fun banter.
