In just a few weeks (28th June) the gorgeous Charlotte Lamb, from Styling Out the School Run, will be joining us for our exciting clothing swap event – The Parent Pause Style Switch. We can’t wait to hear her top styling tips and talk all things fashion, but in the meantime, we ave caught up with Charlotte to ask her all the important questions (chocolate or chips?) and get to know her a little better.
Hello Charlotte, tell us a bit more about yourself?
My name is Charlotte Lamb and I am a 32 year old wife and Mummy to Daisy (6) and Charlie (4). My passion has always been fashion and after graduation I embarked on a career within the fashion industry as a Creative Manager. My career has seen me work with amazing companies such as Ted Baker, Oasis, Debenhams and Selfridges. In 2016 I created Styling out the School Run, a style blog which acknowledges when you give birth you don’t gain a child and lose your sense of style! I run this alongside my social media channels where I have been lucky enough to meet some amazing likeminded women and work with some fantastic companies and causes.
What makes you happy?
What makes you sad?
Watching the news!! The world seems like such a messy place at the moment and it fills me with sadness that this may be the legacy our generation leaves behind for our children.
What is your number one desert Island item?
Music…I believe it makes everything better.
What’s your dream destination?
My dream holiday destination would be New York. I have spent a lot of time there and it gets better with every trip. Personally, I would like to reach a place in my life where I feel truly comfortable in my own skin and confident that I am making good decisions in all aspects of my life.
What are you reading?
I just finished reading ‘Elvis and Me’ by Priscilla Presley…an unexpectedly great read!!
What new thing have you learnt in the past week?
I want to give a really profound answer but the truth is that this week I learnt how to use the ‘Scan as you Shop’ whilst doing my food shopping!! Dull but true!!
Early riser or Night owl?
Night Owl…I am definitely not a morning person!!
TV or radio?
Definitely T.V… I am still obsessed with Sex and the City! Who isn’t?! Plus after a long day I like to get in bed and binge watch The Golden Girls (Blanche has the best Mule collection ever)!!
Chocolate or chips?
It has to chips every time. Although if I could I would choose both!!
Shoes or handbags?
Ooh this is a tricky one, but I think I’d have to say that I am a shoe gal.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
I have a few. The biggest is my growing addiction to ‘The Real Housewives’…It is so bad it’s good!!
What parenting advice would you give to your former ‘parent-to-be’ self?
My advice would be relax and enjoy every moment. I was always preoccupied with if I was doing the right thing and if other people thought I was a good Mummy. I liken it to starting a new job you want to look like you know exactly what you are doing, but how can you?
Just do your best!!
What is your parent pause?
This won’t come as a shock…My Parent Pause is definitely shopping. It is the only activity that I can do where my children do not want to tag along!!
