In the words of the legendary Cilla Black, what’s your name and where do you come from?
Hi…… I’m Dave Hall the Managing Director of Alberts Menswear and Formalwear. I am married to Emma and we live in Hillmorton, Rugby with our 8 month old daughter Pearl Leonie.
Tell us more about Alberts…
Born and bred in this great town of ours, Alberts got its name from my late Father. The business is family run with my wife a Co-Director and we have a wonderful team of people that work here, as well as my sons Tom and Taylor helping out when we are stuck!
What I love most about what we offer is that we see both Dads and sons coming into the shop to purchase new clothes…. And yes, there is always banter to see who is the trendiest!

What’s your biggest Dad fail?
My biggest Dad fail was when I tried to stop Tom from crying when he was a baby by putting a child’s suction cup on my forehead with a mobile phone (the type you stick on a car dashboard). Unfortunately it stuck too well and I couldn’t get it off! When It finally did, it left a perfect circle of red on my forehead an hour before I was to attend a christening as a Godfather!
What makes you happy?
Seeing my loved ones happy in their life makes me happy (and Tottenham winning of course).
What makes you sad?
Seeing poverty at first hand makes me sad. I worked in Sierra Leone for three years and the level of poverty out there is indescribable. Simple things like clean, running water are normal for us, but over there it isn’t, sadly.
What’s your number one desert island item?
My number one desert island item has to be my mobile phone. Being a business owner my life is run by it unfortunately.
What is your dream destination?
It has to be Cyprus. We got married at the amazing Nissi Beach and have just taken Pearl on her first holiday there.

What have I learnt this week?
That’s a tough one. I guess it has to be that social media can actually control people’s lives. Fake news seems to becoming more believable, but can have serious and upsetting consequences.
Are you an early riser of a night owl?
Early riser for sure, especially with a young daughter.
TV or Radio?
TV, especially for Sports!
Chocolate or chips?
Has to be Chocolate
What’s your guilty pleasure?
It has got to be drinking carnation milk out of a tin!
What’s advice would you give to your former ‘dad to be’ self?
The best advice would be to appreciate more what women go through when pregnant. I personally think I wouldn’t cope going through all the changes that women do during and after pregnancy. Emma had to have life saving surgery at six months pregnant with Pearl and lost a massive amount of blood through a perforated appendix.
What’s your parent pause?
My parent pause is watching football. I am a massive Tottenham fan and try to go and watch them as much as possible. We work seven days a week as we do lots of wedding fayres on Sundays, so it’s very difficult to have ‘time away’ from the business.
Myself and Emma also both enjoy high quality food, so we love eating out at different places when we get the chance.
As part of #ppdadweek we have an awesome giveaway for one lucky Dad. Win a Dad book, a £25 Gift Voucher for Albert’s Menswear and a Gold Gift Voucher for Mister Robinsons. Check out our social media sites to enter.
