A picture says a thousand words, or so they say, but I actually think that’s just the start of it.
Since my children were born, I have taken them for annual professional photographs and each time, I am stunned at what they capture. Looking back, the photographs taken with such skill and precision, show the slight expression that reminds you of the exact stage your child was at, or the sparkle in their eye that reminds you of their excitement, or even the grumpy face that recalls their stubbornness at the time.
The memories and emotions that looking at each photograph brings are so much more than just words. They evoke special memories, leading to stories, thoughts, laughter and happiness. They also awaken the senses and I can literally remember the sights, smells and sounds of those photoshoots like they were yesterday.
With cameras so readily available in the palm of each of our hands, it has never been easier to capture memories. The only trouble with this is that we live our lives through a lens and I think that this has lead to the art of photography becoming undervalued. A good photographer is worth their weight in gold. They capture that split second moment like no one else can, showing the subject in a way that you may not have seen before. The framing of a shot can also make the difference between a photo and a work of art. Much like a painter creates a background and mood for each painting, a good photographer does just that.
Without doubt, I am delighted to introduce you all to the very best photographer I know – the fabulous Lisa of Lisa Scott Photography. Lisa is a mother of two from Rugby, Warwickshire and has been taking photos all of her life. “I’ve always been fascinated by cameras and absolutely love the magic they create.” She started her photography business back in 2008 and over the years Lisa has had the privilege of photographing people from all walks of life including dancers and sports people, leading to her winning national photography awards.
Lisa made her name in wedding photography and still relishes being behind the lens at one of the most important occasions in a peoples’ lives. “Wedding photography is my first love. That special moment between a couple on their wedding day is rarely seen and I feel honoured to have shared in so many. Since having my children, I haven’t been able to do as many as I used to, but I will always try to fit them in because I love the huge variety of photos I am able to take in some of the most wonderful locations throughout the UK.”
In recent years, having had her own little ones, Lisa is usually found in her studio with the tiniest of newborns, working her magic (she is literally a baby whisperer!) and managing to create the most wonderful memories for all of the lucky parents that have found her.
“I have always loved wedding photography and I always will. Seeing that special moment between two people always makes me feel soppy. However, since the arrival of my two children, my passion for newborn and family Photography has started to take over. Photographing a baby who is so very small – to capture that precious moment for the rest of their life still makes me a little nervous – but when we get that “shot” it’s so worth it. Over the years I have been able to watch so many children grow and change as I’ve photographed their milestones. A firm favourite is my cake smash photoshoot. It’s such fun – especially for the parents, who end up eating lots of cake too!”
Get in touch with Lisa today and find out how she can help you with all of your photography needs – from headshots to weddings!
